Looking at the stats alone you may be forgiven for thinking: “One career title? One?” But if you consider that one title was the US Open… and she won when she was just 18 years old, if you were going to pick one title? That’s a good one to pick.

Then consider that when she won, she had entered via the qualifiers ranked just 150th in the world. Raducanu then won three qualifying matches before she even made it to the main draw; then beat Stefanie Vögele, Zhang Shuai, Sara Sorribes Tormo, Shelby Rogers, Belinda Bencic and Maria Sakkari to reach the final without dropping a set. And then beat Leylah Fernandez in two sets to win the US Open title… winning the match with a nerveless 109mph ace.

In doing so she became: the first qualifier (male or female) to win a Grand Slam title in the Open Era; and the first to win a Grand Slam without dropping a set since a certain Serena Williams did it in 2014.

Raducanu did all this wearing Nike clothing. A partnership which has endured through her professional career.

Playing international tennis under the Great British flag, born in Canada to a Romanian father and a Chinese mother, fluent in both Mandarin and English and approaching fluency in Romanian — Raducanu has rapidly ascended to the heights of one of the most marketable faces in tennis.

Emma Raducanu’s Shoes

Emma has worn Nike shoes in most of her professional matches. Perhaps it’s coincidence but her tennis breakthrough came when, aged just 13 (the youngest entrants were allowed to be) she won the very first International Tennis Federation (ITF) event she entered — the Nike Junior International in Liverpool, England. Perhaps Nike first noticed her back then? Either way, she now proudly wears NikeCourt Vapors. A great, lightweight tennis shoe — they’re well-suited to Raducanu’s high-pace style.

Emma Raducanu’s Racket

Raducanu uses a Wilson racket.

The tennis press got some mileage out of the ‘controversy’ that she used a Wilson Blade V7, re-painted to look like the more up-to-date V8 version.

However, top level tennis pros get custom rackets with their own specifications, weightings and string tension — so whilst Raducanu is sponsored by Wilson and uses their rackets even if you could get the exact same racket, you should adapt it to your playing style, requirements and budget.

That said, here are some…
